The Church of the Lord Jesus is not a building in which we
have our services. It is actually a body of believers who stand on
the Word of God with no room for compromise. Our goal is to be a
beacon of light in a dark, dark world by proclaiming the gospel of
salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This simply
means that we fully accept, believe and confess that God came in the
flesh through Jesus and that He died as our sin bearer and rose
again on the third day with all power and might given unto Him.
The church got its start on a cold and wintry night on
January 7, 1987 at 74 Milford Place in East New York. The first
congregational meeting of the church consisted of Bishop Tony
McFadden, Jr., his wife and our First Lady Sister Sherrian McFadden,
Bishop's mom Mother McFadden and his brother Charlie.
The
vision Bishop had of the church was of one which holds true to the
teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as well as the
apostles of the early church. In today's society in which the
let-and-let-live mentality has made its way into the church and
where God's Word has been watered down to cater to this changing
world, that vision may seem to be difficult. Nonetheless, he never
gave up on it.
The church's foundation remains the same, as
it was 14 years ago. It is grounded in a deep love and an unshakable
faith in Jesus. Its love is similar to the love found in the 13th
chapter of First Corinthians where love and truth goes hand and
hand. It also explains in that same chapter that while faith and
hope is important to have, love is even greater and must be
functionally in order for faith and hope to fully operate. The
church's faith is the type we see in the 11th chapter of Hebrews and
also the type demonstrated by Jesus' disciples as well as the great
apostle Paul and the rest of the early church.
After a few
stops in Brooklyn, a great deal of the church's years was spent in
Queens with five years at 147th St. and Rockaway Blvd. and also two
years at 106-47 Guy Brewer Blvd. Currently, the church resides at
156-20 South Road.
We invite you to become a part of the
church today and a piece of its history tomorrow.
